engagement and activism
strong values
Let’s Talk About Nonbinary aims to create a space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable. We know that all forms of discrimination and fights for social justice are connected. Therefore, we do not tolerate any discrimination in our online and offline spaces.
This includes:
- Trans*phobia
- Racism in all its forms
- Any form of hostility against any queer people including bisexual and asexual people
- Sexism and misogyny
- Classism
- Ableism and discrimination of neurodivergent people
- Ageism
- Fatphobia and discriminations based on bodily and facial features
- Exclusions based on language or education

We know that we all make mistakes and can accidentally hurt others. When this happens, we strive to address the issue in a timely manner and with compassion. We ask that everyone remains open to learn, adjust and do better in the future. We are committed to constantly learn how to better fight systems of injustice and discrimination.
community-building and activism
Living in a society that does not recognize nonbinary people is tiring. We are constantly confronted with the man-woman binary around which everything is organized. Therefore, we focus on community-building and empowerment activities. During our (monthly) roundtables, we share knowledge and resources about living in Belgium as nonbinary people. By sharing experiences, asking questions and discussing issues, we seek to empower ourselves. Sometimes, what we need the most is just to hang-out in a space where being nonbinary is not questioned. This is what our creative afternoons, beach days, board game afternoons and other social activities are for. These moments are less for discussions and more for enjoying each other’s company and recharging our batteries. We aim to make our events as accessible as possible. Please let us know if you need any assistance regarding accessibility (practical, financial etc.). We can work together to find a solution.
In addition, we participate in Pride events in different cities. We are critical of commercialised Pride parades that focus on partying instead of protesting. Nonetheless, we sometimes decide to participate in order to create visibility for nonbinary people. The visibility that the big Pride events can offer us are important to show the diversity of queerness beyond cis-gay and cis-lesbian. When we participate, we aim to bring an element of protest to challenge the rainbow party. Otherwise, you can find us at smaller, alternative, more activist and non-commercialised Pride events where we answer questions and give people an opportunity to get to know us. We also participate in events for Trans* Day of Remembrance to commemorate all the trans* folks that have died violent deaths in the last year.
